About

Blackfly Canoes began in a barn in southern Pennsylvania in 2009 as the brainchild of then OC-1 Freestyle World Champion Jeremy Laucks.  In 2011, Blackfly moved from those humble beginnings to the current, still humble location out in the woods of the southern foothills of New Hampshire’s White Mountains.  The Blackfly shop is located about two miles from the geographic center of New Hampshire, and within 45 minutes of too many whitewater rivers to count.

Production of Blackfly Canoes remains a one man (and one dog) operation. The decision to remain small has it’s challenges, but also allows the flexibility to test new ideas, constantly push to improve, follow passions, and focus on pushing the limits of what is possible in a whitewater canoe.  I’m fortunate to have the support by a small team of passionate paddlers who help spread the word about Blackfly. They’re World Champions, world record holders, extreme race champions, paddlers dedicated to having fun and promoting whitewater canoeing.
